CDC Study Raises Level of Suspicion - Posted Dec. 8, 2003. Critics charge that pharmaceutical companies and the U.S. government are covering up the true health risks of injecting children with vaccines that contain mercury.
Vaccines May Fuel Autism Epidemic - A new study indicates childhood vaccines
containing a mercury-based preservative may be the culprits behind the surge in
autism cases sweeping the United States.

'91 Memo Warned of Mercury in Flu Shots - A memo from Merck & Co. shows that, nearly a decade before the first public disclosure, senior executives were concerned that infants were getting an elevated dose of mercury in vaccinations containing a widely used sterilizing agent.
Merck Misled on Vaccines, Some Say - Drug maker Merck & Co. continued to supply infant vaccine containing a mercury-based preservative for two years after declaring that it had eliminated the chemical.

Kennedy Jr. Investigates the Government Cover-up of a Mercury/Autism Scandal - The federal officials and industry representatives had assembled to discuss a disturbing new study that raised alarming questions about the safety of a host of common childhood vaccines administered to infants and young children.
Researchers from Australia have identified an ancestry of Pink Disease (Infantile Acrodynia) as a risk factor for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Pink disease was common in the first half of the 20th century ...
The new study, published July 28th in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health available at http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/15287394.2011.590097?journalCode=uteh20 , investigated the hypothesis that autism can result from the interaction between mercury exposure and a genetic predisposition to sensitivity to mercury. Currently, 43 peer-reviewed studies support a link between mercury and autism, and experts agree that autism is caused by the interaction of genetic susceptibility and environmental exposures.
The Australian researchers, David Austin, Ph.D. and Kerrie Shandley investigated whether individuals with a known hypersensitivity to mercury were more likely to have descendants with an autism spectrum disorder.
They surveyed 522 adult survivors of Pink Disease about the health of their grandchildren. They found that 1 in 25 of these grandchildren had an autism spectrum disorder compared to 1 in 160 children of the same ages in the general population in Australia, a staggering six-fold increase in relative risk.
Dr. Austin had the following comment, "The large elevation in autism prevalence in this group of children was startling especially given that rates of other childhood disorders were at expected levels. The thing that differentiates these children from the general population, to which they were compared, is a family history of mercury sensitivity. We were simply blown away by the results."
At the end of the two-day hearing to evaluate the safety of amalgam, the FDA's own scientific panel – including neurologists, toxicologists, epidemiologists, and environmental health specialists – told the agency to stop amalgam use in children, pregnant women, and hypersensitive populations.
After reviewing the available scientific studies and the presentations of researchers, experts, dentists, and injured consumers, the scientists concluded that – contrary to the claims of the FDA's in-house dentist Susan Runner – amalgam is not safe for everybody.
According to the panel, the FDA's amalgam risk assessments were not adequate to protect hypersensitive adults, children, and unborn babies. Repeatedly, panel members expressed their concern about amalgam use in children. Pediatric neurologist Dr. Suresh Kotagal of the Mayo Clinic summed it up for the entire panel:
"There is really no place for mercury in children."
Other panelists went on to explain that dental mercury is like lead. The panel urged the FDA to quickly contraindicate amalgam for these vulnerable populations and insisted that the FDA provide consumers with labeling containing clear warnings.

Studies show that autism rates have increased by more than 300% over the last few years, with as many as one in every 110 children now being diagnosed as autistic. But even as the rates are reaching epidemic proportions, doctors and scientists are still completely oblivious as to the cause of this disease. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. discusses the causes that the pharmaceutical industry wants us to believe are not true with Dr. Boyd Haley, Professor Emeritus at the University of Kentucky.
